XPG Pylon Bronze 469W Power Unit Review

XPG introduces the Pylon Bronze power supply unit which conforms to the design of Intel ATX power supply. Specifically, the 650W unit is designed to maximize performance at an affordable cost. The XPG Pylon Bronze 650W power supply features DC to DC circuit design, 80 plus bronze certification, main Japanese capacitor, and 8 industrial protectors priced at $ 59.99.

The design of XPG products has always been good in recent years. Their Pylon Bronze 650W power supply doesn’t fall too far from the tree. A sleek black metal shell with custom cut triangular ventilation holes with an engraved logo on its top. The design of this specific model was kept simple to keep the price below the $ 60 mark. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have any RGB lighting, but it makes up for what it lacks in RGB by delivering excellent performance. It would also be nice to see modular cables, but we can’t have it all.

The Pylon PSU series is available in 4 wattage options including 450w, 550w, 650w and 750w. Its 80 Plus Bronze certification provides energy efficiency at 20%, 50% and 100% of rated load in accordance with ErP 2014 Lot 3 regulations. DC to DC converters enhance its ability to deliver constant power. It is ready for use around the clock in silence thanks to the 120mm dynamic bearing FDB fan. Temperatures at full load remain below 42 degrees Celsius which is phenomenal. The Pylon series also includes a durable Japanese main capacitor that provides top-notch stability and reliability. You won’t find many, if any, power supplies that will perform at this high level around the Pylon series price bracket.

XPG products have really grown on me. It’s nice to see a company trying to make great products at reasonable prices. At 650w, this PSU will be able to power graphics cards like the Nvidia RTX 2060, AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, and most other cards around these power consumption specifications. XPG backs its Pylon series power supplies with a 3 year warranty which is right in the middle of the road compared to other companies. A solid foundation on which to build for an entry-to-intermediate gaming platform today.
