New power supply with US listed ATX 3.0 support
ATX 3.0 is the next big step in the power supply market, improving specs and introducing new connectors for ultra-high performance graphics cards in the form of 12VHPWR. So far, the only model with this connection is Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 3090 Ti, but the next high-end cards from both manufacturers are expected to launch this year, so there should be more soon. So, power supply manufacturers are slowly starting to introduce new models that meet the standard and can deliver significantly more power.
MSI: MEG AI1000P and AI1300P with ATX 3.0 and maximum load up to 2600 watts
Now the popular and often recommended manufacturer Seasonique is on the right track. Although the manufacturer has yet to officially introduce the new PSUs, several retailers in North America have already listed them. Accordingly, the series should be called Seasonic PS Vertex and start at US$230. Currently, there appear to be four models with varying power levels and capabilities.
80 Plus Gold reps enter. They are available in 1,000 and 1,200 watts for prices between US$230 and US$305. Models with the 80 Plus Platinum, which would be available with 1,000 and 1,200 watts, rank above. They cost between $285 and $340. The power supplies are aimed at enthusiasts, they are fully modular and have a large fan that can probably operate semi-passively. Seasonique also usually offers a very long 10-year warranty on its high-quality power supplies, so newer models can be a good alternative to previous ideas. For now, however, it is not yet known when Seasonique will officially offer them and when they will be available.
