Efficient air-cooled AC/DC power supply for distributed power systems

TDK Corporation introduced the TDK-Lambda TPF45000-385 45kW AC/DC Non-Isolated Three-Phase Power Supply. The device provides a stable 385 V DC output for large distributed power systems using isolated DC-DC converters for semiconductor test and burn-in, large-scale printers, and other industrial equipment. With 98% efficiency, less internal waste heat is produced, allowing cooling by variable-speed internal fans. Cooling in this way bypasses the requirement for expensive and complex water cooling systems.

The device can be operated from a Delta or Wye 360-528VAC three-phase input and fully loaded at ambient temperatures from -10C to +50C (-20C start). Internally, the power supply includes up to ten 4.5 kW modules, allowing easy configuration of low-power systems. The rackmount enclosure is 450mm wide (excluding side rackmount flanges), 113mm high (less than 3U) and 533mm deep and weighs 30kg.

For remote monitoring, DC good, phase lost and fault alarm, isolated signals are available, as well as remote on/off capability and a 13-15V 0.5A auxiliary output. PMBus and USB communication interfaces are provided to monitor input voltage, output voltage, output current, internal temperature, status signals and fan status or to inhibit or enable output voltage .

The device is certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1 safety standards and carries the CE and UKCA marks for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS directives. It also complies with standards EN55032-A (conducted and radiated emissions), SEMI F47-0706 (line drops) and IEC 61000-4 (immunity). The isolation between input and ground is 2000 VAC.
