Gigabyte UD1000GM PG5: new 1000W power supply with PCIe-5.0 cable

gigabyte Power supplies have earned a reputation among PC users for the quality of their materials and their performance. The company continues on this path with a 100% modular power supply with PCIe 5.0 connectors to power next-generation graphics cards.

New PCIe 5.0 connectors with a 12+4 pin configuration allow up to 600W be powered from a single connector, making it easy to install a graphics card in any PC case. The specification is officially called “12VHPWR”. The new PCIe standard has caused confusion in the OEM market as it is unclear how it will be documented. For example, Gigabyte calls this new cable four different ways: PCIe Gen5 cable, 12+4 pin cable, 16 pin cable and 12VHPWR.

We expect standard terminology to take hold as more power supplies and graphics cards begin to use the new connector.

the Gigabyte UDM1000GM PG5 the power supply does not yet have a release date, but it is believed that it could coincide with the launch of the next RTX-3090Tiwho will use the new PCIe 5.0 (12+4 pins). Other manufacturers such as ASUS, MSI and Cooler Master also showed off some of their variants using the new cable, so it will become a new standard for high-end graphics cards for years to come.

gigabyte wouldn’t reveal what the price will be, but with these specs it certainly won’t be cheap. We will keep you informed of any news.
