Apple expands suppliers, SG Micro may provide power management components for high-end iPhone 14

Apple’s vendor list has recently grown with the addition of SG Micro. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said SG Micro’s components have passed Apple’s quality certification. Therefore, the company could provide essential components for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14.

Apple expands its suppliers with the addition of SG Micro

In a series of tweetsKuo said that SG Micro components will be used for high-end iPhone 14 models. Since the company has apparently received the quality certification, this means that it could supply components for the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

A quick look at the company’s presentation on its website revealed that SG Micro specializes in integrated circuits. It is therefore very likely that the company will provide the power management ICs for the high-end iPhone 14 models. Kuo mentioned that this will be the first time that SG Micro will provide components for high-end products at Apple. This proves that the company has reached the Tie-1 level required by high-end consumer electronics, such as the iPhone 14.

SG Micro will help Apple’s supply chain grow

For Apple, that would mean a steady supply of components for high-end models. It will also serve as a safety net in case of component shortages in the future. Kuo predicts that Apple’s supply chain will continue to grow. The analyst said earlier that although some iPhone 14 components such as the display panels are experiencing supply chain issues, these are not expected to affect iPhone 14 production.

That being said, if the business relationship materializes, it looks like a win-win situation for both companies. Apple will have a steady supply of a critical iPhone component while generating profit and revenue for SG Micro. It looks like Apple has nothing to worry about with the iPhone 14 models expected in September.
