North American Summits On The Air (NA-SOTA) Weekend
September 8-9 2012
Summits on the Air (SOTA) is a world-wide award scheme for radio amateurs and
shortwave listeners that encourages portable operation in mountainous areas.
Summits qualify for listing in the SOTA database based on prominence. Each SOTA
summit earns the activators and chasers a score which is related to the height
of the summit. Certificates are available for various scores.
In order to promote SOTA operations in North America, September 8-9 has been
designated NA-SOTA weekend. Activators will make a special effort to be
operational on SOTA summits this weekend.
